By car through the Area of Dolni Morava

Pastviny
dam
The
43 m high dam retains water 8 km lengthwise. About 1 km under the
main embankment, there is a service reservoir Nekoř. Above the
embankment on the right bank of the river, there are remains of an
unknown castle called „Vejrov“. Banks of the dam, together with
several campings and campgrounds, provide ideal conditions for
recreation, water sports and fishing.

Earth gate
The
river Divoká Orlice, which is still a frontier river so far,
all of a sudden changes its direction and all its flow enters Czech
territory, where its raging torrent carved a romantic cutting in the
gneiss rocks. The river was spanned at this spot by a bridge built by
Italian architects in 1900 – 1903 and which was characteristically
named „Zemská brána (Earth gate)“.
A
romantic walk along the educational nature trail starts near the town
Klášterec nad Orlicí and it has a length of 3 km with
22 stopping points dedicated to nature and border fortification.

Kunvald
In
1457, brother Rehor founded the Unity of Brethren, the task of
which was to purge the church and lead to true christian life in
love. The congregation of the Unity of Brethren used to have its seat
in the house No. 238, in which today there is a museum of the Unity
of Brethren and of J.A. Komenský. The house is a typical
representative of the local folk architecture. In its vicinity, there
is a memorial to Jan Amos Komenský.

Zamberk
The
pride of the town has always been the chateau (now used for a special
purpose), one of its parts is the chaple of Assumption of Virgin
Mary, where chamber concerts have always taken place. What is worth a
sightseeing tour is the large chateau park, which was constructed in
the end of the 19th
century in the English style. There was located the observatory,
where the Danish astronomer Theodor Brorsen worked in 1858. In the
former building of the Catherine's Hospital at the western edge of
the town, there is the seat of the Town Museum. Nearby, you can find
a unique Jewish cemetery. In the local quarter Helvíkovice,
there is the birth house of the inventor Prokop Diviš with a model
of his first lightning rod. An aerial club offers sight-seeing
flights above Žamberk and its surroundings.

Letohrad
A
town on picturesque foothills of the Orlické Mountains. Its
dominant feature is a chateau with an exposition of the original
chateau equipment and a picture gallery of the artists Umlauf and
Alfons Mucha. In the Town Museum, you can find the original sleigh,
on which the emperor Napoleon escaped from Russia in 1812. The Museum
of Trades – interesting expositions consist of more than 30 artisan
workshops of individual trades mainly from the period 1890 – 1930
on the surface of 480 m, for example a water mill, processing of
flax, blacksmith, paramentar and others. The museum is unique in the
Czech Republic both due to its contents and arrangement.

Lansperk
The
castle stands on a rock above the valley of the river Tichá
Orlice; it was built in the second half of the 13th
century in charge of Přemysl Otakar II. By and by, Lanšperk became
a center of a large domain. In 1622, the castle is described as
abandoned and its devastation was completed during the 18th
century, when its ruins served as a source of construction material
for buildings in the surrounding villages.

Potstejn
A
resort in the valley of the river Divoká Orlice, it was first
mentioned in 1287. The little town emerged as a settlement round a
gothic castle and they had shared the same fate until the half of the
17th century, when the castle was already abandoned. In
1339 after having been conquered, the castle was damaged and taken
over by Charles IV. In the years 1346 – 1355 it was reconstructed
and in 1495 it was sold to the lineage of Pernštejn. The castle
become desolate in the 17th
century. The castle and the chateau in the town are settings of the
short story of A. Jirásek „Poklad (Treasure)“.

Jablonné
nad Orlicí
The
historic center of the town was declared a historical landmark zone.
Significant monuments are the hotel of Černý medvěd (Black
Bear) – timber rustic house with a balcony and pizzeria Srdíčko
– timber storeyed house from the end of the 18th
century. In the newly reconstructed storeyed bourgeois house No. 30,
there is a memorial hall with an exposition dealing with the history
of the town and life of the local citizen Petr Figul Jablonský
(the son-in-law and closest assistant of J. A. Komenský).
Behind the town, in the direction to Orličky, there is a romantic
rocky valley of the Orličský stream with a great number of
artificial lakes – polders.

Štíty
The
town become famous in the recent past due to the complex Acrobat
Park, which was constructed by an olympic winner in acrobatic skiing
Aleš Valenta. The Acrobat Park is the largest summer ski jumping
complex in Europe. Visitors can test their skills on ski jumps of
various heights under supervision of experienced instructors.

Velké
Losiny
A
favourite spa near Šumperka with sulphurous springs and thermal
swimming pool. The dominant feature of the town is a renaissance
chateau from the 16th century with a chateau picture
gallery (display of pieces from Italian, Flemish and Dutch art of
painting from the 17th and 18th centuries.),
Žerotín armoury, a set of pistols and rifles and a large
chateau park. Next to the main road, there are premises of an old
paper mill, where a paper mill museum is located at present. The
paper mill was founded in the end of the 16th century. It
is the oldest paper mill in Middle Europe, which has been continually
in operation. Here, the paper is being produced manually.

Hanušovice
The
town became famous especially due to its renown brewery. It was built
by a young brewer Josef Mullschitzký already in 1874. Today,
it is one of the first ten largest breweries in the Czech republic.
