It was first mentioned in 1296 and the first wooden bath house was built in 1592.

It became more important after 1950, when poliomyelitis acuta started to be treated here.
In the same year, Sister Kenny visited the spa.

The spa is sought after particularly for the curative effects of the natural spring – thermal sulphur water, which is 36.8°C hot. There are 6 springs in total.
